How to prevent nearsightedness?

Nearsightedness is also known as myopia, it happens when a person sees things very close like a few meters far only. This habit can be developed by time or born with nearsightedness. There is no cause found yet of nearsightedness but if your one or two-parent has nearsighted then there are chances that you have this habit naturally. Another factor can include the regular use of computers or reading and these activities damage the eyes. If you take proper diet and maintain a healthy lifestyle, do exercise daily to decrease the stress that enhances visual insight. You can also take talk to an optician for better and professional guidance. Below are few ways to prevent the nearsightedness,

Don’t read in dim light:

when you read in low light it will damage your eyes and can lead to many eye-related issues like nearsightedness. Always read books and magazines where the light is bright. Also, if you are reading something on a mobile phone then make sure the light is not too bright so you can be saved from eye damage.
Take a gap when you look at screens: many people don’t take a gap when they use a computer or see television, this action can damage your eyesight or develop the nearsightedness. In a day, always plan a break from looking at computer and television. For instance, if you are spending a whole day on a computer then take 5 to 10-minute breaks every hour, you can go for a walk or talk with your friends. Past study shows that if you spend time outdoors this will help to manage the eyesight and keep away from nearsightedness so plan a break and go outside for a while.

Get prescription eyeglasses:

if you get prescription eyeglasses during your childhood then it will keep you from nearsightedness and maintain eyesight. Make sure to wear prescription eyeglasses when recommended by your optician and save yourself from eye damages.

Wear sunglasses:

whenever you go outside in day time don’t forget to wear sunglasses. Because it protects you from UVB rays and decreases the chances of having nearsightedness.

Do exercise:

there is a focus exercise that boosts the eye muscles. If you ever feel that your eyes are damaging due to close up work, reading or working in front of computers then you must take gaps from doing the work and give your eyes rest and do focus workout. This will relax your eyes and strengthen your eye muscles that are tensed. For example, you can hold your thumb at your arm’s length and then gradually bring it back and touch the nose tip. Make sure you are focusing on your eyes during the whole procedure. Move your thumb again form your nose but move your arms on the right or left side and do the same process. Spend 3minute on this exercise and repeat it 3 to 5 times in the whole day.
